An aging comedy Las Vegas superstar, compellingly played by Jean Smart, struggles to maintain relevance. Someone has the idea to pair her with an edgy, self-centered young screenwriter from LA. The young screenwriter is insufferable and unlikeable, but that is offset by the eccentric intensity and great wit of the older comedian. The two spark off of each other, creating a whole that is greater than the sum of the parts. More of a dramedy than a comedy, but still funny.
